내가 한국에서 특히 놀란 것들 // Things which REALLY surprised me in South Korea PART 2

오늘 한국에서 나를 놀라게 했던 3 가지에 대해서 이야기 하고 싶어요. 노르웨이와는 꽤 다른것들이에요.

첫 번째는 많은 한국 친구가 좋은 미국 억양으로 영어를 사용해요.
저는 한국인들이 영어를 할 때 좋은 미국 억양을 가지고 있어서 놀랐어요. 제가 한국에 공부해쓸 때 많은 한국 친구들이 미국 억양으로 영어를 사용했어요. 하지만 제가 노르웨이 고등학교에 다닐 때 선생님은 항상 영국 억양으로 저희에게 말씀하셨어요. 대부분의 노르웨이 고등학교 친구들은 영어를 할 때 항상 영국 억양을 사용했어요. 저는 고등학교 때 호스트 가족과 함께 살고있는 교환을 위해 런던에 갔어요. 그래서, 노르웨이에서 미국 억양을 사용하는 사람들을 거의 만나지 않아요.

두 번째는 아침으로 밥을 먹는 것입니다.
제가 한국에있을 때 한국 친구들이 아침에 쌀을 먹는 것을보고 놀랐어요. 노르웨이에서는 보통 아침으로 빵을 먹어요. 그래서, 저는 한국에서 아침이나 점심을 먹으러 'Subway'에 자주 갔어요. 물론 저도 밥 먹는 것 좋아하지만 유럽에서는 보통 저녁으로 쌀을 먹어요. 노르웨이 에서는 아침에 쌀을 먹는 것은 흔하지 않아요.

세 번째는 추석, 추수 감사절입니다.
저는 사실 한국에 오기 전에 '추석'에 대해서 들어 본 적이 없어요. 노르웨이에서는 추수 감사절을 축하하지 않아요. 저에게는 새로운 것이었어요. 한국사람들이 추석 때 보통 가족을 만나요. 저는 한국에서 가장 중요한 명절 중 하나라고 들었어요. 그러나, 노르웨이나 폴란드에서 가장 중요한 휴일 중 하나는 크리스마스입니다. 저는 크리스마스 때 보통 가족들을 만나요.

Today I’m gonna talk about 3 things that surprise me in Korea. Things which are quite different to Norway.

The first thing is - Many of my Korean friends speak English with good American accent. I was surprise how good Koreans were to pronounce English with American accent. When I was studying in Korea, many of my Korean friends spoke English with American accent. However, when I was in high school in Norway, the teacher talked to us always with British accent. Most of my Norwegian high school friends when they spoke English, they always used British accent. During my high school, I even went to London for an exchange where I was living with a host family. So I actually barely meet people who used American accent in Norway.
The second thing is eating rice for breakfast.
When I was in Korea I was surprise when I saw my Korean friends eating rice for breakfast. In Norway we usually eat bread for breakfast. So in Korea I often went to “subway” to eat breakfast or lunch. Of course I love to eat rice too, but in Europe we usually eat rice for dinner. It’s not that common to eat rice on the morning.

The third thing is “Chusok” - the Korean Thanksgiving day.
Actually I never heard about “Chusok" before I came to Korea. In Norway, we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving day. That was something new for me. During Chusok, Koreans usually meet their own families. I heard it’s one of the most important holidays in Korea. In Norway or Poland however, one of the most important holidays is Christmas. During Christmas, I usually meet my family members.
